Custom Tool Development & Integration

LIS Pro 3D is designed as a modular system, making it highly adaptable to specialized processing tasks and complex workflows. Its flexible architecture allows it to be configured for a wide range of point cloud and geospatial analysis applications. However, even with its extensive functionality, there are situations where a specific feature is missing or where targeted adjustments can significantly improve efficiency. This is where our custom tool development services provide added value. Based on your technical and operational requirements, we enhance existing tools or develop entirely new ones tailored to your workflow.

Our objective is clear: streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and increase productivity through precisely engineered solutions.

Highly Specialized Tools

Some projects address highly specialized challenges. For example, we developed a tool to simulate solar glare for a state government department responsible for glare assessments of photovoltaic installations. In another case, we created custom tools for a public civil engineering office to calculate volume differences between bathymetric (multi-beam sonar) surveys - enabling precise estimation of overcutting, undercutting, and chargeable sediment volumes.

Bathymetric point clouds are the basis to calculate changes in sediment volumes.

Software Extensions & Plugin Development

We have also developed plugins for RIEGL, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of laser scanning systems. These extensions were created for RiSCAN Pro and RiPROCESS and support dedicated analysis tasks such as advanced point cloud classification, geotechnical analysis, and automated tree segmentation - including the calculation of detailed per-tree metrics such as wood volume.

Beyond implementing high-performance processing logic, we provide full GUI integration and comprehensive documentation to ensure smooth deployment and usability within existing software environments. In some projects, our software operates as a processing engine behind external platforms, including web-based processing services. In these scenarios, we support full integration into the existing technical framework - often by developing an intermediate Python layer that can be called programmatically to execute dedicated processing tasks. Typical implementations include seamless access to point cloud or raster data catalogs, combined with data export (including metadata handling) and on-demand processing capabilities such as classification, analysis, and format conversion - all triggered via Area-of-Interest (AOI) queries.

Custom Processing Blueprints

Many customers also request customized processing blueprints - structured workflows that reflect their specific operational requirements and can be easily adapted as those requirements evolve. These blueprints typically extend beyond defining a processing pipeline based on LIS Pro 3D tools. They frequently include automated generation of visual outputs, maps, and structured reports derived directly from analysis results. This ensures not only consistent and reproducible processing, but also standardized deliverables.
